For older teens who like action and comedy. A master spy must get married and have a child for a mission, without knowing that the wife he picks is an assassin and the child he adopts is a telepath. VIZ Media rates it Teen Plus, which it describes as possibly suitable for older teens and adults.
For older teens who like supernatural action. Yuji Itadori swallows a piece of a demon to save a friend and is drawn into a war between a school of jujutsu sorcerers and cursed spirits. VIZ Media rates it Teen Plus, for older teens and adults.
For teens who want a story about friendship and first love. Charlie and Nick are made to sit together at school, become friends, and Charlie falls for Nick. It is a graphic novel series with LGBTQ+ characters, adapted as a Netflix series, and Hachette gives it an interest age from about 13.
For teens who want another graphic novel about first love. Fifteen-year-old Morgan wants to escape her small island; one night she is saved from drowning by a mysterious girl called Keltie, and the two fall in love. The listed age range is 13 to 17.
For a manga reader who might try a classic if it comes as manga. A cynical stray cat moves into an English teacher's home and comments on the people around him, in Soseki Natsume's satire of early 20th-century Tokyo society. The publisher says it is the first English manga edition and is read back to front; it gives no age rating.
For older teens who want to read and speak Japanese. It teaches hiragana, katakana and 160 kanji through seven manga stories, with native-speaker audio. The publisher designed it for adult self-study and says it contains some mature language and is best for ages 16+.
For a manga reader who likes to draw. Twenty step-by-step tutorials show how to draw characters in anime and manga style, from pencil sketches to inking and colouring. The publisher gives no age range.
VIZ Media, which publishes several of the manga here in English, uses four ratings. It says Teen may be suitable for early teens and older; Teen Plus may be suitable for older teens and adults and can include intense violence and sexual content; Mature is for adults only. Square Enix rates The Apothecary Diaries Teen.
