Description
Delve into the foundational work of physics with The Principia: The Authoritative Translation and Guide by Sir Isaac Newton. This monumental text, originally published in 1687, lays the groundwork for classical mechanics and revolutionises our understanding of the natural world. Newton’s meticulous exploration of motion, gravitation, and the laws governing the cosmos is both profound and accessible, making this translation an essential companion for modern readers.
The Story
In The Principia, Newton articulates his groundbreaking theories through rigorous mathematical proofs and compelling arguments. The text unveils the laws of motion, encapsulated in his three famous principles, which not only explain the behaviour of objects on Earth but also govern celestial bodies. This duality of terrestrial and celestial mechanics illustrates the unifying principles of nature, which remain relevant to this day.
