These terms apply to every order placed on a Fox & Fable trade account during our trade pilot. Trade accounts are available to independent bookshops, other UK retailers, and institutions such as schools and libraries.

Opening an account

Please apply using the form on our trade page. We review every application within one working day and will email you once your account is open.

Prices

Trade prices are the lower of 50% off RRP and our shop price, except as set out below.

Academic and educational titles that publishers supply to the trade on short discount are the lower of 20% off RRP and our shop price. These are mainly university-press, academic, professional and scientific books, and school, exam and English-language-teaching books such as textbooks, revision guides and GCSE and A level titles.

Box sets, bundles and titles without an RRP are sold at our shop price.

RRP is the recommended retail price. Where a trade price is calculated from the RRP, it is rounded down to the nearest penny. When you are signed in, your trade price is shown on every title, with the percentage off RRP wherever we hold the RRP. If a price appears to be wrong, please email us before ordering and we will correct it.

Ordering

  • Order on our website while signed in to your trade account. Quick order by ISBN allows you to paste a list of ISBNs or upload a spreadsheet.
  • You may also order by email. Send the ISBNs and quantities to support@foxandfable.com. We will reply to confirm which titles will be delivered the next working day, and place the order on your trade account at your trade prices.
  • There is no minimum order.
  • There is no exclusivity. You remain free to buy from other suppliers.
  • We are not yet able to accept orders through BatchLine.

Delivery

  • Delivery is free on every trade order during the pilot.
  • Titles held in our UK warehouse are delivered the next working day on orders placed by 1pm.
  • All other titles are delivered in 2–3 working days.

Invoices and payment

We email an invoice for every order, showing each title, any VAT and, for orders on 30-day terms, the date payment is due.

  • 30-day terms. Payment is due 30 days after the date of the order. We keep a debit card on file for your account and charge it automatically on the due date for the balance then outstanding on the invoice. If you would rather pay by bank transfer, please email support@foxandfable.com for our bank details and quote the invoice number as your reference.
  • Credit cards. We do not accept credit cards for payment on 30-day terms. Please save a debit card, not a credit card, to your trade account.
  • Paying at checkout. You may instead pay for any order by card at checkout.
  • Paying early. To settle an invoice before its due date, sign in to your trade account, open the order and pay by debit card.

If we agreed different payment arrangements with you when your account was approved, those arrangements continue until we give you notice of a change.

Returns

Returns are free on every trade order placed during our pilot. This includes academic and educational titles and titles we do not hold in our warehouse.

  • To return books, email support@foxandfable.com with the order or invoice number and the ISBNs and quantities, and we will add them to your return list. You may add to your return list at any time.
  • Please set the books aside until we collect them. We collect returns together once a month and will email you before each collection. Please group returns into as few parcels as possible.
  • We refund or credit returns once the books have reached us and been checked.

Returns are settled as follows:

  • If you paid by card, we refund your card.
  • If the order is on 30-day terms and the invoice is not yet paid, we deduct the returned books from the invoice.
  • Otherwise, or at your request, we add the amount to your trade account as credit towards your next order.

We issue a credit note for every return.

Length of the pilot and changes to these terms

The pilot has no fixed end date. We will give you at least 30 days' notice by email before the pilot ends or before any of these terms change. Each order keeps the terms that applied when it was placed.
