Folk Witchcraft

Folk Witchcraft by Roger J Horne is a guide to lore, land and the familiar spirit for the solitary practitioner. This new, updated edition of the first book in the Folk Witchcraft series gives the student witch a perspective on the craft that is firmly rooted in the past but adapted for the present.

The Story

Combining practical exercises, explanations of craft theories and models, hand-drawn illustrations and the author's own working grimoire, Horne helps readers connect with traditional magic from centuries past. Topics include ecstatic spirit-flight, seasonal rituals, working with nature spirits and familiars, traditional charms such as the witches' ladder and the poppet, discerning the magical properties of herbs and plants without relying on reference tables, seeking guidance from the spirit world, shapeshifting, and making herbal unguents, oils and tinctures, as well as developing your own lore and grimoire. With more than 50 rituals, charms and exercises, the approach is simple, flexible and non-dogmatic.
