Description
Big Dreams for the West End Girls by Elaine Roberts immerses readers in the vibrant yet tumultuous world of early 20th-century London. Set against the backdrop of World War I, the novel follows Joyce Taylor, a young woman with aspirations of owning her own restaurant. Working at a café on Shaftesbury Avenue, Joyce's dreams are put on hold when the man she loves enlists in the war, leaving her to confront the challenges of life without him.
The Plot
A surprise request from her dying grandmother turns Joyce's life upside down, and she struggles to keep the café afloat with her newfound responsibilities. The weight of her obligations becomes overwhelming, yet she finds solace and strength in her friendships with Annie and Rose. Together, they navigate the trials of love, loss, and ambition amid the chaos of war.
