Description

The Other World's Books Depend on the Bean Counter, Vol. 2 continues the captivating journey of Kondou, a business professional who unexpectedly finds himself transported to a fantastical realm. Stranded in this new land, Kondou wants nothing more than to spend his days peacefully working himself into the ground, until he collapses from downing potion after potion, day after day.

The Plot

In this volume, it is the handsome knight captain Aresh who rescues the bean counter in distress. Yet not even a near-death experience and a night of many firsts can keep Kondou from going back to work the very next day. Jilted by the man he saved, Aresh begins a personal crusade to teach Kondou to work to live rather than live to work, while Kondou cannot for the life of him understand why he is no longer allowed any overtime.

Themes

  • Work Ethic vs. Personal Well-being: The narrative delves into the importance of finding balance, highlighting the struggles many face in prioritising work over their own health.
  • Relationships and Emotional Discovery: The evolving dynamic between Kondou and Aresh serves as a poignant exploration of love, trust, and vulnerability.
  • Fantasy and Reality: The story intricately weaves elements of fantasy with the relatable challenges of modern life, creating a unique narrative experience.

Kazuki Irodori's engaging writing style seamlessly blends humour and heartfelt moments, drawing readers into a world where every decision can have significant consequences. Fans of the first volume, as well as readers of fantasy with a focus on character development, will find much to appreciate in this enthralling continuation of Kondou's journey.
