Caste

Caste by Isabel Wilkerson delves into the often-overlooked hierarchy that shapes societal structures and personal experiences. The author argues that beyond race and class, a hidden system of divisions—caste—plays a pivotal role in determining the lives of individuals and communities.

The Plot

She identifies eight key pillars that support these systems, providing a framework for understanding how caste influences everything from opportunities to daily interactions. Through a blend of historical analysis and personal narratives, Wilkerson brings to life the stories of notable figures such as Martin Luther King Jr., illustrating the profound impact of caste on the quest for equality and justice.
