A new generation steps forward: the arrival of Stephen Carrington, the stranger from the sea, changes the lives of Jeremy and Clowance; the wayward Valentine Warleggan keeps old wounds open; and Bella's talent as a singer is encouraged. From Ross's mission to Wellington's army in Portugal to a family stay in Paris overshadowed by Napoleon's return, themes of love, rivalry and loyalty weave together, creating a compelling narrative that captures the essence of human experience.
