The Mysterious Case of the Alperton Angels

The Mysterious Case of the Alperton Angels unveils a harrowing tale of manipulation and belief, told through the research material for a true crime book. Readers are invited to open a safe deposit box, read the documents inside and decide whether to destroy them or take them to the police.

The Plot

The documents revisit the shocking story of a teenage girl who was ensnared by a cult that convinced her that her newborn was the anti-Christ. Driven by a twisted sense of divine purpose, the cult members believed they were destined to end the child's life, and were stopped only when the girl came to her senses and called the police. The Angels took their own lives rather than stand trial, and mother and baby vanished into the care system. Almost twenty years on, true-crime writer Amanda Bailey is researching a book about the Angels, and the baby, now eighteen, can at last be interviewed. But rival author Oliver Menzies is also on the trail, and as the two are forced to work together, they realise that the accepted story of the Angels is wrong.
