The Holy Qur'an

The Holy Qur'an is the central religious text of Islam, held to be the word of God, revealed to the Prophet Muhammad through the angel Gabriel over a span of 23 years. This translation by Abdullah Yusuf Ali is considered the most faithful English rendering available, making it accessible to a wide audience.

Revelation and Compilation

As it was revealed, the text was committed to memory by the Prophet's companions, and written copies were also made by literate believers during his lifetime. The first full compilation was made by Abu Bakar, the first Caliph; later, once the best reciters had been killed in battle, the third Caliph, Uthman, had it recompiled in the original dialect.

Language and Translation

For Muslims, the full and authentic truth of The Holy Qur'an is found only in the original classical Arabic. As the influence of Islam spreads, however, translation has an important part to play in introducing and explaining the faith to a wider audience.

"Indeed, this Qur'an guides to that which is most suitable..."

Through its profound messages and rich language, The Holy Qur'an continues to be a source of inspiration and guidance for individuals seeking a deeper understanding of faith and existence.
