The Ethnic Cleansing of Palestine & The Biggest Prison on Earth Collection

Delve into the profound and complex history of Palestine through the compelling narratives presented in The Ethnic Cleansing of Palestine and The Biggest Prison on Earth. These two insightful works by historian Ilan Pappe, published by Oneworld Publications, offer a critical examination of the socio-political landscape that has shaped the region.

The Plot

The Ethnic Cleansing of Palestine meticulously recounts the events that led to the dispossession and displacement of the Palestinian people. Focusing on the years 1947 to 1949, when over 400 Palestinian villages were destroyed and around a million people were driven from their homes, Pappe draws on archival evidence to challenge the claim that the Palestinian population left of its own accord.

In The Biggest Prison on Earth, Pappe picks up the story where his earlier book left off, turning to the Occupied Territories. Drawing on recently declassified archival material, he examines the motives and strategies of the generals and politicians who laid the foundations of the occupation, and the legal, bureaucratic and security systems used to control more than a million Palestinians, creating what he describes as the world's largest open prison.
