Someone Else’s Shoes

Someone Else’s Shoes by Jojo Moyes is a compelling tale that intricately weaves together the lives of two women. Sam is barely holding on to her job and has a family who depend on her for everything, while Nisha has a hugely wealthy husband and an international lifestyle, until he starts divorce proceedings and she is locked out of all of it. This new reality challenges her perceptions and forces her to confront the complexities of her own existence.

The Plot

Sam and Nisha should never have met, but after their bags are mixed up at the gym, their lives become entangled, even as both spiral out of control. Each blames the other, and each feels increasingly invisible and alone, yet the woman who seems to have ruined your life might just turn out to be your best friend. Together, they might even take back what is theirs. The narrative is rich with both humour and poignant moments, expertly highlighting the contrasts between her life and that of her counterpart.
