Every Cloak Rolled In Blood

Every Cloak Rolled In Blood is a poignant exploration of grief and redemption, crafted by the talented James Lee Burke. The novel delves into the life of novelist Aaron Holland Broussard, a father shattered by the unexpected death of his daughter, Fannie Mae. In his profound sorrow, Broussard embarks on a mission to honour her memory by attempting to rescue two young men from the clutches of crime in their opioid-ravaged community.

The Plot

As Broussard navigates this perilous journey, he encounters a host of formidable characters, including a violent ex-Klansman, a corrupt minister, and a treacherous biker club. Each encounter tests his resolve and challenges his understanding of morality. His only ally in this dark world is Ruby Spotted Horse, a state police officer with her own secrets, adding layers of complexity to their alliance.

The narrative is rich with themes of loss, the struggle for redemption, and the fight between good and evil. Burke's prose is both lyrical and gripping, engaging readers with its vivid imagery and emotional depth.
