Description
The Plot
In I'm (Almost) Never Bored, Anna Milbourne tells the story of a little girl who wails that she is bored when her screen time is cut short. Her dad is delighted, because, as he tells her, being bored comes right before having a Really Good Idea.
After a little protest, she dives into her imagination and takes the reader with her on a whirlwind of fun. A cardboard box turns into a magical train, the washing machine sparks an imaginary trip into space, a scribbly doodle turns into a hungry spaghetti monster, and ants in the garden lead to an escapade in the Funny Bug Circus.
Themes
- Imagination: Everyday things, from a cardboard box to the washing machine, become the start of wonderful make-believe adventures.
- Creativity: Shows that time to be bored gives children the space to come up with their own Really Good Ideas.
- Screen-free Play: A gentle reminder that fun doesn't always come at the touch of a button.
Writing Style
The writing style is accessible and engaging, designed to captivate young readers and foster a love for reading. Its straightforward text follows the little girl from one imaginary adventure to the next, making it a fun story to share.
This book is perfect for young readers who love make-believe, and for parents looking for a gentle way to show that being bored can be the start of something brilliant.
