The History of Middle-earth (Boxed Set 1)

This boxed set includes special editions of The Silmarillion and Unfinished Tales, along with two volumes of The Book of Lost Tales.

The Plot

The Silmarillion serves as a cornerstone of J.R.R. Tolkien's legendarium, presenting the ancient history of Middle-earth. It intricately details the First Age, chronicling the epic struggles between the forces of good and the malevolent Morgoth, the first Dark Lord. It tells the ancient story that the characters of The Lord of the Rings look back on – some of them, such as Elrond and Galadriel, took part in its events – as the High Elves wage war on Morgoth to win back the Silmarils, jewels holding the pure light of Valinor.

Unfinished Tales expands upon the narratives introduced in The Silmarillion, revealing deeper insights into the characters and events that shape Tolkien's world. This collection showcases a variety of stories that were not fully realised, yet provide essential context and richness to the lore of Middle-earth.
