Children's Fiction
Children's Fiction is our shelf of stories for children from babies to about age 11: board books, lift-the-flap books and picture books to read aloud, first chapter books for children starting to read on their own, and longer adventure, fantasy, mystery and funny fiction for confident readers. Examples at three stages are Michael Rosen and Helen Oxenbury's chant-aloud We're Going on a Bear Hunt in a board-book edition (ages 0–2), Harriet Muncaster's first chapter book Isadora Moon Goes Camping (ages 6–8), about a girl who is half fairy and half vampire, and Robin Stevens's Murder Most Unladylike (ages 9–11), in which two schoolgirl detectives investigate a murder at their school.
