Description
Delve into the profound depths of The Torah, an illustrated edition introduced by Rabbi Rodney Mariner. This edition pairs the text of the Torah's five books with a wealth of Jewish art and imagery. Rabbi Mariner’s introduction sets the tone for this edition.
The Story
The text is the classic 20th-century English translation by the Jewish Publication Society, illustrated with ancient frescoes, medieval illuminated manuscripts and paintings by contemporary Jewish artists. A synoptic table of contents helps readers locate the better-known events and their themes across the Torah's five books, and the Hebrew text, as it appears in the Torah scroll, is included for several significant passages.
Why Readers Love It
- Gift Edition: Bound in blue cloth with an illuminated gold foil front cover, it makes an ideal gift.
- Easy to Explore: A synoptic table of contents points you to the better-known events and their themes.
- Hebrew Passages: Several significant passages also appear in Hebrew, as written in the Torah scroll.
Perfect For
This edition is ideal for scholars, students, and anyone seeking to deepen their understanding of Jewish heritage and theology. Whether you are exploring religious texts or looking for a gift that would grace any home, The Torah is a fine addition to your collection.
